TASK 1A:
READING COMPREHENSION
When John heard a knock at the door, he did not know what was in store for him. A tall figure, a shadow of himself, stood rooted to the ground. John had longed to meet him. It was now a decade since he was born. His father had denied the pregnancy and had vanished into thin air. John's mother and father had never seen each other since then. The latter was dark. He glared at John. John had taken too long to answer the door. This seemed to have rubbed his long lost pater the wrong way. After a moment of silence, John was astonished that his parents had hurriedly buried the hatchet. He was however happy that at last he would enjoy the company of the duo.
