Question 1 – 20 marks
a) Family resource: anything available to a family for satisfying needs/goals (1); decision making: choosing the best option from alternatives (1).

c) Any four explained: needs/priorities; income/resources; family size; values; age; urgency; alternatives; consequences. (1 each)
d) Total = 6,000+3,000+2,500+1,500+2,000 = KSh 15,000 (2). Balance = 18,000−15,000 = KSh 3,000 (2). Percentage remaining = 3,000/18,000×100 = 16.67%, accept 16.7% (2).
e) Any two explained: prioritise essentials; substitute cheaper alternatives; postpone non-essentials; reduce wastage; increase income/use skills. (2 each)
Question 2 – 15 marks
a) Any three: safety, information, choice, redress, consumer education, healthy environment. (1 each)
b) Any four: price/unit cost, quality, quantity, expiry, ingredients/specifications, durability, warranty, seller reputation, after-sales service. (1 each)
c) Shop A = KSh 1,050 (1). Shop B = 980+100 = KSh 1,080 (1). Difference = 30 (1). Shop A is cheaper by KSh 30 (1).
d) Any two explained: emergencies, future goals, reduced borrowing, investment. (1 each)
e) Any two: overspending, debt, inadequate money for essentials, unsuitable purchases, financial stress. (1 each)
