GENERAL MARKING GUIDANCE
• Accept correct Mandarin alternatives that convey the required meaning unless the item specifically tests a stated grammar form, character or punctuation feature.
• For Pinyin, accept standard tone-marked or clearly tone-indicated forms where the intended pronunciation is unambiguous, except where the task specifically assesses tone accuracy.
• For oral tasks, award marks using the curriculum-aligned descriptors for clarity, vocabulary, presentation, fluency, pronunciation/tones, coherence, active listening and non-verbal communication.
• Writing responses should be marked for the stated task requirements, writing mechanics, logical organisation, appropriate vocabulary and coherence. Do not penalise a learner twice for the same error.
• Where more than one response is valid, credit any response supported by the supplied curriculum scope.
